  • differences between male and female

    yesterday i got two khaki Campbell ducks there owner died and i was given them one is larger than the other they are both exactly the same how could i tell if one is a male. i never kept ducks before it is probably a silly question but it needs answering

    Have heard say .......... the drake has a wee curl on his tail whilst the duck doesn't. May help ... good luck!

      Hopefully these links will help you out a bit. Hope you have girls - you will get loads of eggs from the sound of things! Don't forget you will need to give them a big basin of water or something to splash around in.

        Ducks quack,drakes don't. That's another way of telling.

          both of the above, some breeds have a curl on thier tail/back, all drakes make a wheezy kind of noise rather than a full blown quack.

            thanks everyone i now think i have 2 females duck. they are purposed to be very good layers which means lovely sponge cakes with home made blackberry and apple jam

                we have a male aylesbury and he dos get a curl feather on the top of his tail but in spring not all year round

                duck eggs make wonderful sponges, very light and fuffy
