We went to see the Bonzos last November for their 40th anniversary reunion tour and they were fantastic. The late great Vyvian Stanshall was sung by Ade Edmondson and Phil Jupitus. Nei Innes was great too.

                    keeping chickens

I would have thought that chickens were not allowed in allotments, personally I don't mind

Considering the number of foxes about I would have thought it could be a very upsetting project.

I would love to have some in the garden but would you believe it states in my deeds that I can't keep poultry or bake pottery. I have always wondered who bothered to put these conditions in and why. Someone hated chickens and chicken bricks perhaps.???

                      Brewer-again
I think it's up to the site owner, in my case the council. There were chickens on the allotments already but I did ask permission and also needed some extra space. They gave me a half plot not in use (too near a huge oak tree) and it was rent free....
There are lots of foxes around ,rats too and cats. So far and fingers tightly crossed, I've not had any problems in nearly a year, The hens are in a roofed run with weld mesh extensions to discourage predators digging in.

I was originally going to eulogise about how they need daily care and attention and shouldnt be left etc, but thought about how mine actually live. They have a house that the door is never closed on. They get up when they want and they go to bed when they want. We feed them layers pellets from time to time, nearly every day but not quite. They get all our kitchen fruit and veg leftovers and they are totally free to go where they wish. I have lost count of the times I have found chicken poo around the dog bowl in the kitchen where they come through the cat flap.
We dont fuss over ours at all, we generally have around a dozen, and often when driving back up the lane to our house I have seen them in various fields belonging to different farmers, anything up to a mile away. They always come back at night, and as yet (touch wood) we havent lost a single one to a fox or other predator.
If yours are to be kept on an allotment, providing you can guarantee food and water then a couple of days without seeing them wouldnt be a problem imo. Better still, if the neighbouring allotmenteers have your phone number just in case then you are covered.
I wouldnt be without my girls now, they give me eggs and sunday lunch and are great to have around.
