Am v excited re impending bantams! Thanks Eyren for the breeder details. My dad is drawing up a henhouse plan. The cost of them ready-made is pretty frightening! I wish I had brought my old dog kennel up to scotland with me as with a few adaptations it would have been perfect. Arr well, me n whigger dont mind hard work and getting down and dirty with a bit of carpentry so we had better get the wood in ready! Am going to get the food, bedding and worming and mite supplies in ready so no going back now! We are going to make feeders and water dispensers... anything else we need to add to the shopping list?

See my recent post on the "Def not poo" thread for suggested chicken health supplies - none of them are essential right away, but they're good to have to hand just in case. I would especially recommend AviPro for newly-arrived chickens (it can be dissolved in their drinking water) - they can sometimes find it very stressful moving to a new home, and AviPro boosts their immune system at this vulnerable time.

Apart from that, I think you have it covered - chickens are fairly low-maintenance pets!
