What a shame... is he the only one that's missing? Are your hens okay?

we have been loosing hens since we bought them...inflact we had peacocks...4 and they didn't last one night...we think it's our cats, since the dogs are locked up every night. they are fine when we lock them in the stall at night, but sometimes a hen will find a way out, and we will find it the next day.

That is a real shame, after him having all the trouble with the dog too. I wouldn't have thought cats would take chooks though - we never experienced the cats bothering the hens.

the cats are half wild, they hunt mice and birds and live in the barn...a loose chicken in the middle of the night would be easy pickings, we do have foxes and Coyotes, but I would think the chickens would be dragged off the farm towards dens, not dragged from the barn to the house. I do have a small bit of hope he is just AWOL, we haven't found a patch of feathers yet.
