I am new to all things country. I have got 6 hens, all settled in well, but every few days one of the girls lays me an egg with no shell. I think it is always the same hen, but am not 100% sure. Do I have a problem, or is this ok?

Are your girls young berryberry - if they are it quite often happens when they come into lay for the first time and it should sort itself out in a few weeks if not sooner -
yes, we have had them about 9 weeks from point of lay. I have added more grit and the last few days all 6 hens have laid a good egg, so I hope it's sorted. Another query is that none of my girls will roost on the perch in their house. Anyone know if that matters?Comment

preferably you want to try and get them to perch, try putting them up yourself at night until they get the hang of it - if nothing else it get's them off a cold floor for when winter comes. Try giving her some oyster shell that will help her on the shell side of things - if not a bit of milkComment

The shell-less eggs are called soft shelled eggs, there is an egg shell there but it is very thin and soft. Usually these eggs are laid as their system is getting into its stride, usually this is temporary, this can also happen well into their laying life.
Sudden changes in weather can also be a contributing factor, but the next day can be back to normal!
The oystershell should be available all the time for them, this will then stop them egg pecking to get the egg shells later on in life. If you notice a shell-less egg, try to remove it asap this too will stop egg pecking.
