  • Run Cleaning

    Hi,
Can anyone suggest how to disinfect/clean my chicken run.
I have topped it up with woodchip all winter when it got too boggy but it really smells when it's wet. It is quite a large run so not moveable but big enough to section off if needed

    Thanks

Scoop up all the woodchip and sling it into the compost and put fresh woodchip down. Even if it is a sizeable chunk, will probably only need doing once a year. To save the ground and if the run is a decent size, section it off. This will allow smells time to dissipate into the atmosphere.

I would do as Blackguard says but I would dig over the ares as well. The Chooks will have a ball finding all the bugs and worms under the compacted to layer.
