Hello. I am just contemplating owning my own chickens but my garden is a bit little. Just wondering if anybody has got any chickens on an allotment.

hello Kyle!
We have some chickens on our allotment, in a purpose built house with enclosed run, plus a larger roaming area protected by an electric fence. We have had them for about a year now and really enjoy them. Lots of plot holders now collect their snails and slugs and other creepy crawlies and throw them into the run as hen treats. great entertainment all round!Saoirse: Irish meaning Freedom (I think!)

Hi Kyle, I have my hens on my allotment, I understand that there is a law made in 1946, that entitles you to keep hens on a council owned allotment. I had a little hostility from one neighbour whose house backs onto the allotments, but everyone else loves them. The only stipulations I have to comply with are that they are well looked after, and not allowed to free range. I am not allowed to keep a cockeral.
Good Luck!

Pirates okay, he just a misable old Cat, he's 11 now, and has seen many other pets over the years (Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Mice etc). He likes to be centre of attention, and likes to get sympathy as he only has 3 legs.
