Hallo
Been a while since we have been on (this is nessie using whigger's log-in) as mine isn't working for some reason...
Just thought we would let u know that on Friday we went to collect 4 hens from Happy Hen Hoose in Moray. We also got an unexpected cockerel! The hens are Hy-Line hybrids and extremely friendly. 2 are already egg laying, in fact we got our first egg on Saturday which was remarkable after their 120 mile journey home!
The cockerel is a Scots Grey and he is mad. We have had to clip one of his wings to stop him flying away, and this has done the trick. He roosts on top of the pergola via means of the garden swing and parasol... Once he is up he can't get down so we have to climb up and bring him in at night.
They are brilliant and we waste so much time just watching them.
Here are a few piccies for fellow chook lovers:
I would highly recommend :: Happy Hen Hoose :: Breeder and supplier of rare and traditional poultry and hatching eggs from the Moray Coast. to anyone in northeast Scotland. They even gave us a big bag of mixed hen and duck eggs as well as our free rooster.
We also got a very reasonable henhouse from Poultry Houses, Duck Houses, Pet Dog Houses, Wooden Rabbit Hutches - Norfolk, UK. The delivery was a little later than stated, but we were happy with it when it did arrive.
