Could have been what is known as a meat spot, it is apparently some of the wall lining that gets 'mixed' into the egg as it passes through the hens system.
If it was a foetus then there would have been lots of red lines running from it around the yolk.
Mose 'egg' hen farms only have hens - no cockerels. If battery there is no room for them and if free range the cockerels can cause a reduction in egg laying so are 'unwelcome'.
In summary, it was highly unlikely to be a fertile egg - you're safe!Last edited by TPeers; 01-06-2008, 09:07 AM.The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

got egg no.2 today!when we got to the plot ther was a little zebra finch(from where I don't know!?)but the egg in coop could almost have been hers!!maybe slight exageration but the egg only just bigger than my thumb!obviously she felt she'd spoilt us with the double yolker or wanted to make sure we saved this 1 for the children!!out of the 10 one has a far larger & redder comb so presuming shes the layer, although a couple dont look far behind.the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
