Hemcore; how much water to add?

Hi and help! Read about using hemcore for bedding and noticed that people have been adding water to it to activate its deodorant properties. I used to use hemcore for all the animals in our pet shops but never added water. Can someone tell me how much water I should add, please.

I use 'woody pet' but it sounds similar - I just use enough to wet it and leave it for half an hour to fluff up into sawdust-type stuff

I use the aubiose..same as hemcore and to be honest have never damped it down. I just put it 3 inches in the run. I find that, due to rain, when the aubiose gets wet it starts to smell. It seems to do the job just as well dry, and my hens love having a dust bath in it. Yesterday, when I changed the run, I tipped out a bag of aubiose and went to get a rake to spread it over. When I returned, the hens were having a whale of a time spreading it themselves and emersing themselves in it. It looked like a day out at the seaside!!
