  • Ideal height for nestboxes?

    The heading says it all!

Mine are only raised a couple of inches from the ground but would it be worth ading a second teir above them?

PS I've found a couple of golf balls on the field which I intend putting in the nestboxes for some inspiration. (Visions of hens with an enlarged adams apple!)
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

I gave my cockatiel a hen's egg once (boiled) to play with, and she did her very best to try and sit on it ... it was like a toddler trying to climb onto a Spacehopper

Chooks lay on the ground so the nest boxed should be low down below the perches.
