I like the helter skelter idea but i think its a bit pricey. I could plagarise and improve it, allowing it to store more eggs.
A proper helter skelter about the size of a road cone should do.
I feel a project coming on!

Do you remember pigletwillie's avatar with a cone stuck somewhere else whilst riding a motorbike?

Just bought a rubber stamp off eBay for the princely sum of 1 penny + £1.60 postage!
Once I get it I'll let you know how I get on!

We just write the date in pencil on our eggs and stick them in the fridge. they seem to last longer than shop bought.. maybe its because they are totally free from anything other than what comes natural....
Never keep eggs in the fridge, just store them pointed end down and they will keep for at least 3 weeks.
Ideally eggs will keep best just above fridge temperature, but in summer, or in a modern centrally heated house, there may not be anywhere at the right temperature. The fridge is better than letting them get too warm. In a properly cool place eggs will stay good for most uses for a month, for baking they will be usable a bit longer. If you must use the fridge make sure they NEVER get down to near freezing!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
Was very excited by the whole date concept before I got my chickens - got rubber date stamp, highly hip Winnie the Pooh little tin with lid. put a sponge in it and purchased some food colouring to moisten it with. Only problem is, I never have any eggs. Have to fight to keep some back for myself as family and friends have gleefully told me that my eggs are better than any they've ever bought (obviously!) and they clean me out daily.
Well, I'm gutted. Stamp arrived today but it appears you have to put your own ink in the pad! What a swizz!
