Egg stamp?

I will hopefully be getting quite a few eggs from my chooks before long and someone mentioned writing the date on in pencil so the older eggs don't get mixed up with the fresh eggs.

To take this one step further and help speed things up, can you buy a date stamp for eggs which can be changed each day?

I've seen them in Post Offices but don't know whether they would be any good for eggs?

Also how long can you keep fresh eggs for in a fridge?

I think the stamp maybe to hard for a delicate egg and not be able to stamp a rounded surface. I've kept eggs for a month in the fridge and they've still been lovely.

Not sure if it was on here or elsewhere but I wasa advised against using marker pens on eggs as the ink can penetrate the shell~not sure if same would apply with stamps?
We've fell a tad bit behind with our pencilling & now have several boxes scattered around the kitchen with just our memory to remind us which to eat 1st!!(Keeping the many little heaps of courgettes company!!

you can get one, they are rubber, dunno if you could use them for eggs though? they have them is places like wh smiths, and staples, and i think i've seen them in wilkies.

or you could try with a cheap kids printing kit from the pound shop then use waterproof ink, as otherwise it will come off in the fridge.

the other thing is, to check if an egg is ok to eat, fill up a tall jug with water and drop an egg in, if it sinks its fresh, if it's half way it needs eating soon, if it floats, chuck it cos it will stink

I'd be happy to keep eggs 3/4 weeks - and you can test freshness in a bowl of water (good eggs sink - less air inside). Try ebay for stamps, set up a system of newest at the back, one of those spiral things, or write the date in pencil?
We get 2-4 eggs a day and seem to be well able to keep up with supply!

3/4 weeks? i have eggs in my fridge that are 3-4 months out of date, and still fresh

Probably one that makes them go bad after 3 weeks so you have to buy more?

Yep, not very cheap I agree, I treated myself as I got the housing done seriously under budget and I was losing track of what was laid when within a week of having them..
