I don't have much problem with redmite.
I use the real deal too - had it here for years. I spray it in the cracks with a garden sprayer with a lance. Means I don't have to get too close when I'm doing it.
Hoping that using it once very couple of years won't harm me

I dread to think how many miles of fencing I creosoted during my apprenticeship & that was when I smoked like a chimney, I'm still about to tell the tale

I used to work in a coke works where you could fill as much as you liked from a tap!

You could also shovel bags full of sulphate of ammonia from underneath a rotted pipe!

As a young buck I got the job of painting a large shed with creosote. It had talen me 17 years to grow a decent tash and i burned a lump out of it when a wayward drop kissled it up. I had to shave it off and I was gutted!

I've still got three gallon stashed fro a rainy day though!

Sorry but the posters who believe creosote is banned and illegal to own are wrong, it can still be bought over the counter, but not by average joe public, I have an account with an agricultural merchants and I still buy the real stuff from them, I bought 15 gallon last week.
I would not recommend painting yourself with the stuff as it burns like hell, but I have been using it for well over 30 years now, we rarely suffer with mites or such like on the chooks,
