I have a brown chicken that looks like a battery hen, and 2 that are different colours and they come up to almost my knees! So prob about 12 inches or so. They can however bend and stretch and jump and flap quite high when they want something that you are carrying in your hand!

The pop hole is about 30 cms tall and thay all get through it no probs.

Not a silly question at all Mine are about 15" high, stretching to about 2' or so when they want to. However, my daughters first ex-batts are really small in comparison, only about 12" if that! The newbies look really huge in comparison

Can you get wellies to fit depending on how tall you are then?

I don't think it's a daft question at all. We are hoping to adopt ex-batts in the spring and Himself is busy exercising his brain with a hen-house and run design. I have asked that the house be on legs so the run can extend underneath and offer some shade/shelter. So it's quite important to know they can get under it comfortably!
