  • well i've started

building the chicken house, i've got access to as many pallets as i need, from the building site out back, and they even drop em at the bottom of the garden for me, so no transport problems

so i've decided to do it in a double layer the outside in wood slats, and the inside covered with hardboard, then covered in lino.

doing the double layer, with my lack of joinery skills, should mean it's a lot more solid, i've also got some metal strips with holes in for the joints, to make them extra secure.

so i've ripped some pallets apart to use the wood to cover the outside, and up to now

    I HAVE A FLOOR

You just answered my question on the previous thread Are you going to use the roof that you got ages ago too?

i'm hoping to yes, though looking at it, with the roof, it will be the biggest chicken house in the world lol, but the plan is to make the house tall enough so i don't have to bend or crawl in on my knees, so it will give a decen't overhang so i won't get wet when cleaning out in the rain. or i may end up using it over part of the run ....... i'll let you know, when the house gets beyond a floor

i did draw some plans for the house, but during smashing the pallets, it's suddenly grown from being a smallish coop, to something that will fit 3/4 of the lancashire chicken population in it and has already started to look nothing like what i had in my head.

Are chicken coops not SUPPOSED to look like that, then Nicos?
