yeah i know ...... although she's 11 now, and that's the first time i've ever actually gone out and left her out ...... normally she shouts at the door after 5 mins.
shes just shared some leftover spaghetti with the chooks, and now she's snuggled up with me under a blanky on the sofa, doesn't want to go anywhere

right today has been fairly productive,(despite the blizzards) rescued a door complete with handle from a skip the other night ..... next door neighbour has given me a load of thick wood, which is now a door frame on one side, and the other side will go up this week. and theres even enough for a couple of perches.
the door is now attached ..... and opens and everything
wasn't sure about the roof, so it had to come down, which wasn't quite as hard as it sounds, i pulled out a couple of nails, and the wind caught it, and it landed all neatly in the back garden, and thankfully didn't break (glad i know that for the next high winds)
so i have a piece of 8X4 board on the top of the house now, this is nailed on and makes the whole house much more sturdy (ie it doesn't wave about in the wind)
so i'm gong to attach more planks to the underneath of the roof (2 wasn't enough) then lay that on the top of the wood, and attach it.
so hopefully tomorrow it won't be snowing, and i can get the door frame finished.
just gotta pick up some hardboard to line it with, son and his mate have just gone to pick up some freecycle lino, so in theory, by next weekend, the babies should be outsideLast edited by lynda66; 01-02-2009, 06:46 PM.

well rob and alex got back with the lino, both of them are blue coloured,(lino rolls not the kids) and one has shiny bits, i'm gonna put that in the nest box, give em summat to peck at whilst waiting for their eggs to hatch
also have about half a packet of laminate flooring, which will save me having to buy quite as much hardboard ....... it's gonna look dead posh

Just read the thread
Thats amazing. That things bigger than my flat, do you need planning permission? When I started reading I imagined a small coop, then it just got bigger and bigger! That must have been so much work, brilliant to use free materials as well. I made some raised beds out of old pallets but copped out and brought the wood for my coop (I thought it was big untill I read this).
Bravo!
