    I've heard it said that point-of-lay hens bought at this time of year sometimes don't really get into laying until spring. However, some poultry fanciers prefer this because the hen is more mature and less likely to have problems laying the first eggs.
    Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

      We have just 3 enuf for a small garden and 2 eggs a day.. our Orpinton has just finished moulting so no egg from her at the moment. Enjoy them they are soooooo funny

        Hopefully soon to have 4 warrens (I think that's what the lady said she had available). Went to a poultry sale and auction yesterday and didn't manage to buy anything but chatting to someone later was put in touch with a lady with layers for sale. These four have been through their first moult and are coming back into lay now - ideal for us!

          i got my 8 ex-batts yesterday
          i am trying to distract myself from going and distburbing them
          it's really difficult, especially with everyone talking about chickens

            We have 3 (Hatti, Bobbins and Pepsi) and we love them to bits, even hubby who wasn't too convinced before they arrived.
