  • miranda laid 2 eggs, one after the other today!? is that normal??

    hi all

miranda laid 2 eggs today!! she was out free-ranging then made noises and ran back to house. stayed in there for around 20 minutes, then came out and laid an egg on the grass!! i looked in the nesting box and there was another!! it was her for sure as carmen had already laid this morning and had not been back in the house. I never knew hens could lay 2 eggs at the same time?? anyone else experienced this.

I have heard of people with 6 hens getting 7 eggs so someone else is doing it!

Never heard of 2 being laid at the same time! Were they a normal size? Sometimes we get 5 eggs from 4 hens but not like that!

It happens occasionally, but not often quite so close together. Usually either at least an hour between or you just get a double-yolker.....

          hi,

they were on the small size as they have only just started laying, but all intact, second one had hairline cracks but still intact, i guess this was when it dropped on the grass from her! she didn't lay yesterday though maybe it was yesterday's egg!!!!! she's a maran cuivre.
