Well still nothing this morning...... but the eggs are slightly moving now and again.
We sat for about an hour last night watching them, I don't know why, we were probably hoping a little chick would just suddenly pop out.
I won't get home till 7.30 so today is going to be torture.
I'll let you all know if anything has happened when I get home.

This is probably a daft question, but do they need food as soon as they hatch or can they wait a while? Worried that chicks may hatch and be rather hungry (I resisted using 'peckish') by the time you get home.

chicks do not need food or water for approx 24 hours after hatching as the have already ingested the yolk sac and this gives them sufficient to live on.
I have done an awful lot of reading and research as that was what I originally thought, but alas I was wrong.
I already have the brooder set up light ready to go, and food and water containers washed and sterilised, so it should be a smooth transition.
In my heart of heart I hope they come a little late so I can watch them hatch, but saying that I can't wait.

Sorry for not updating last night but nothing had happened and I was a bit sad.

BUT.......one has pipped this morning
the shell had 2 little shards broken off but the membrane was still intacted, that was at 6.30 as I left for work, so I should have at least 1 chick when i get home.
