you had best set up a webcam for yours too Lynda, if you haven't got one, get an eyetoy cam second hand , or nick one of the kids ( they are often better) and I can find you the files you need to put on the pute so it recognises it as a webcam, dead simple.

as we speak, darling son is bringing his web cam home, so i can use it, though i am trying to work out how to use my camera as a web cam, with a remote wifi, so i don't need to leave the pc attached to it all the time ..... then i'll start worrying about how to put it on t'interweb

the setting up of one is quite simple, it setting up live feed which is hard, but you dont have to do that, you can just record it and do it as a mpeg/avi file and upload to YOUTUBE.

once they are all out, i'd really like to do a live feed, as well as the odd cool video, of things that will only happen once, like hatching. and eating and stuff ....... and i also want to set one up in the shed, so i can watch them at night, without having to go out and disturb them ...... might as well have it on a live feed if i'm watching it too

not long, 10 minutes i think if you have a something or other account.

for checkin on your chookin, you might want to invest in some nice cheap motion detection software, depends how legally inclined you are, its not THAT expensive, but i prefer things for 'free'

with motion detection you can get it to alert you when motion is detected, although with chooks that would be endless, but it breaks all vids down into bite size pieces, and then you can check through and publish the bits you want.
if you are up for paying , i would recommend 'active webcam' this also has a live feed capability, which i think is free for the first month, after that i couldn't tell you.
I have this software and it good, we have it linked to an eyetoy to keep an eye on the front parking area, anything moves out there and its saved to the hard drive.
