Sore feet!

Just went out to lock the girls up for the night and noticed Gwendolyn's lost a toe nail, and cut her foot. She was bleeding a little bit, so I brought her in...bathed her foot and put some flour on it so stop the bleeding. I'm sure she'll be ok - pretty positive she's done it today when she was digging (like a mad woman) for worms!

She's back in her wee house with her sisters - in the dark, snuggled up and sleeping. I'll keep an eye on her tomorrow to ensure she doesn't open the wound again. I don't want the others pecking at it!!

Anyone else had experience of this?

My poor wee girl! Got a couple of cracking pics of her cuddling up to the oven for a heat though!! Every cloud has a silver lining!

Gwendolyn is lovely. You're right about the pecking. My OH has a couple of burns on his arm and the hens keep pecking at him. There's an anti peck spray you can get if it is a problem.

I might consider the anti peck spray - I probably don't really need it, but it'll make me feel better.

Do you know what it's called?

I think Johnsons do one called Antipek or someone suggested gention violet (not right spelling) I just let the girls peck OH! He says he's been hen pecked for 40 years anyway.

Well he's well used to being hen pecked then!!!! My three were trying to pull my thong out from my jeans today when I was bending down trying to put a handle on their door. Cheeky wee things!!! It was funny though.

Keep an eye open for the other possible cause. Be sure it isn't a rat bite.....

It's definitely not a rat bite - her entire nail has been wripped off, and she's got another cut that looks exactly like the edge of the wire on the run!!

It keeps bleeding, and she's reluctant to put much weight on it...but, she'll soon be better. I'm sure of it!!
