Well you were talking about Buff Orpintons which I believe are a British breed, so I thought if you ever got some of an American breed........

i have Rusty, Grumpy (Jade), snowy and freckles. Before we got them they were going to be called Big, Dolly, Lemon and Henrietta.

we tend to call them the girls unless they need to be individually identified.

our first 3 hens were Dolly, Jean and Twinkle... (yeah, I'm a big Victoria Wood fan)

when we got our new girls, we decided not to name them as hens have a pretty short lifespan out here what with the abundance of predators, however they've become
                  Stripes
                  Stripes Junior (R.I.P)
                  Stripes Mini
                  Brownie
                  Tiny
                  Little Tiny

Ours were called Emerald, Matilda, Hetty & Pecker.
All named when we were kids!

Madmax and the boys named ours - Madmax has Flymo, Aranthos has Zeke and younger son's is named 'Cardinal Puff Puff the Third' (Puff for short). Since I didn't get to name an individual, I collectively refer to the 'henny penny's'
