Crikes what a weekend, I'm knacked.

Well his lordship got his back into it on Saturday and bless 'im converted the stable into Chookenham Palace - at last

Travelled to Coventry yesterday, Ian & Molly say hello Maureen - they sang your praises and are really thankful of the work you've done spreading the word.

Left with 12 ladies in the purpose built crate and arrived at Chookenham Palace with 13. DD was mean't to be counting them as they went in maths is not DD's strong subject

Having laid 6 eggs en route - will be making quiche today.

The girls aren't in too bad a state, Molly thinks the farmer held back the oven readies. We have a fatty with most of her feathers we've named Dawn. One with very dark feathers on her back we've named Cocoa and one who DD named Lizzie cause she's queen bee. Will name the rest when we can tell them apart.

Will post pics when I've taken some.

Ian and Molly have some Dutch whites to rescue in December. DD is trying to talk me into getting some

.....don't know how..but ours have managed too sus the favourite!!!It breaks my heart cos she's always roosting on her own in the back of the shed whilst the others all huddle together in the front bit!

Glad it's not just me that has a favourite! Little Attila the Hen, now known as Tilly, is such a character. She was virtually bald when she arrived, she's so vocal I'm expecting the neighbours' donkeys to complain, and she's fascinated by everything around her.

LOL, thanks guys, it is a big corner box I thought Chookenham seemed appropriate.

Maureen - I might be persuaded by Mollie's festive whites as she's calling them.

Tried them with some grapes today, one of them sussed almost immediately (the others haven't really caught on) so she's running around trying to hide the grapes she gets. It was too 'orrid today to let them out into the yard but hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'll let them have a run around while I muck out.

I still need to put ash into their indoor pool they keep looking at the Belfast sink wondering why on earth it's there. The adapted chairs for the nest box layer are proving very popular as roosting perches and they seem to prefer going under rather than up the adapted louvre door ladders. I think I will have to try the marble egg shaped paperweight in the nest boxes and tempt some up with corn to see if they suss.
