Ok thanks for the tip everyone but can I ask what is PPF? Is it Practical Poultry? I did some more searching last night and hit pay dirt so I bookmarked a breeder and am waiting to hear back.
Peaceful days are in the garden!

        Yeah, it's practical poultry forum.

        Great source of breeders, etc.
I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about!!

One advantage of Cuckoo Maran (I believe they come in other colours as well) is that it is easy to tell hens from cockerels at ALL ages! I can't remember the difference in colour of new hatched ones (just that there IS a difference) but as soon as they have feathers, hens are much darker. This is useful if you want to breed replacements AND eaters. I found the 3yo Maran hen to be an excellent (and usually predictable) broody.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
