  • Sraggs has gone

    Hi,
Scraggs didn't make it I'm afraid. she died in her box snuggled in the corner. we followed all your advice, but she was always a skinny little chicken she had nothing left to give really.
we shall bury her under the cherry tree with all our other past pets.

Thanks for all you advice and encouragement, I know where to come in future

Sorry to hear that about Scraggs. We lost one last week - they just go so darned quickly there is very little time to find out the problem far less put it right. I am sure she enjoyed her time of freedom with you.
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

        Poor little thing.
Nice idea that she will be with the other family pets though
Well done for trying- at least she had a taste of freedom.

You did your best for her and that's the main thing. Giving ex-batts even just a short time out of prison, the chance to feel the wind on their feathers, grass under their feet, to see the sky, and be a proper chicken is a truly wonderful thing to do

Sorry to hear about Scraggs......I honestly thought she'd pull through. Anyway she's gone to that big chicken run in the sky now and I'm sure she'll be telling all the other angel chooks how well she was treat once liberated from her cage.
I suppose that if you are expected to lay a large lump of protein each day whilst being boxed up in a cage the size of a shoebox with nothing to keep you amused, it's going to have an adverse affect on your life expectancy!

Well done you for liberating her and giving her a new home, even if it was for a short time!

Sorry to hear that Minxie. Its horrible how fast they go downhill, but console yourself with the fact that she tasted real freedom with you instead of being slaughtered and turned into who-knows-what

Really sorry to hear about your little girl. I've lost 3 of my 12 released since Janary and 2 went really quickly as Scraggs. I console myself that they did taste freedom and normal chook things like the sun and solid ground under their feet. They are such sad little things and give so much back in return for their freedom. Lots of worms and mash in chooky heaven. xx
