Thanks for all your lovely thoughts, I just got home from work, and their coop door is shut tight, it looks so strange in the day, as they are out usually in their run. as soon as you stand near the french windows they knew you were home.
as we always let them have the run of the garden when someone was in. it was nice to pop down for an egg check and to let them out.

Blossie would dart round the back of the tree to lay her egg.

My son was straight on the net last night, looking for more rescue dates, hope fully we will only have to wait just over a week. I want to get some now, it's funny how you get used them being around and become part of your family. As he caught foxie in the act, he is quite shaken but wants more.

Mr fox jumped over the fence that bit isn't as high as the rest which is 6ft, so that will be sorted asap.
          you live and learn.

thanks for all your support, will let you know if we can get some more soon.

How awful for you all. It's one of my big fears, to go down and feed them and not find them as they should be.

Hope you find comfort in rescuing some more.

Get a male to wee all round the run area, it is said to deter foxes.

Minxie, I'm so very sorry. We all worry about Mr Fox. My run is covered but I do let the girls out into the garden if I'm about. You are so right that they know as soon as you are home and make you feel like a jailer if they have to stay in the run. I don't know if you are in the country or town but the urban fox is not easily frightened of humans because people feed them.
Hope you manage to rescue some more soon and give them a taste of the good life.
Told my OH to wee in a bucket and put it round the run. He says he has already wee'd there. OMG hope the neighbours weren't watching.

So sorry to hear that Minxie. Quite a few Grapes have lost chooks to Mr Fox. Glad you're getting some more . The run has to be really fox proof. Now he knows about them Mr Fox will be back.

Minxie, I can't imagine how you must feel. The trouble is if there is a fox around its only a matter of time when it will work out a way to get in, I have electric fence, wire netting & a secure run but I know in my heart of hearts that it will happen one day. Lots of hug's ((()))

Really sad for you. It's one thing I dread each morning as my girls are kept on my allotment a mle away from home. Every sympathy and I'm chuffed you're not giving up. Some more girls are out ther just waiting for your call.

                          Blimey that's awful!

We are rural, backing on to fields, and we do have foxes round here, although I haven't seen one in the garden. However, my mum's dog certainly let us know there had been one around one night last week.

I've got electric fence round my Chooks, and they're locked in a 'Fox-proof' (I hope) coop. I didn't leave the electricity on at night, but after the visit last week I leave it on, just in case.

Great that you're getting some more.

We have now buried the girls, Sam, my son came home from school and dug the hole, it took a while as five needs a decent size and the ground can be a bit tough.

we have looked on line for possible rescue dates.
the next nearest one is in January 18th, which is ages away.

Does anyone know The Four Crosses, in shropshire, they have some possibly on the 6th Dec. That may be to far for us.. As we are in gloucestershire.
When we got our girls in August, another rescuer, arrived home and all his girls were dead, so I don't want them to travel to far and find dead birds, when we get home, that would be to much.
A friend of ours lost 10 of 17 last week to a fox, so I am not alone.

thanks all for your kind words and thoughts, barricade your chooks in!!

Yes I got mine from Four Crosses last January. Nearest big town is Shrewsbury. It would be a fair trek from Gloucestershire.
