I'd get some decent timber while you're at it too, coz with all that junk in there you won't have room for the chooks, so you'll need to build an extension! X
yeah.they get the freedom of the garden when we are home so dont spend too long in their eglu run. my raised beds are at the top of the garden so im going to get chicken wire around them to keep them off.
the paths are wood chippings from recycle centre and they love to sratch about in them
we have a small lawn which they like to nibble on when out of the run.
the eglu is situated on more woodchippings.
not sure what else i can provide for them to keep them amused, but they seem fine and they are both laying, its just gingernut pecking miss pepperpot and pulling her feathers out thats the problem.
on the plus side i have nt seen her plucking feathers today so fingers crossed.
Grandad used to use the anti peck things on the rooster as he could get a bit carried away sometimes and it seemed to work. So maybe give it a go I don't think they're very expensive and it may help them to kick the habit then they can be removed.
