  • Betty...!!!

    and so....

I've just found 2 eggs which Betty has laid- one yesterday and one today...in the herbaceous border!!!!

problem is that we had a very heavy frost last night and I'm sure the egg will have been at least slightly frozzed.
so...will it be OK to eat?...should I eat it ASAP???...will it be a bit 'funny'???

    Go Betty!

Chef says go for it. Even if it's a fertile one, if it's only 24-48 hours old it won't have started developing. If it was out in the open and got frozen, I don't suppose it would come to any harm.

Just cook it before you eat it - no probs. X

But what do I know... s*d all, really - but I'd eat it!

You could poke a stick into it, crack the shell off and lick it like a lollypop!

I can't see any reason it wouldn't be OK. It may not be ideal for frying or boiling, (the freezing may make the yolk less 'firm' than it should be) but great for scrambling or cake making......

I had a similar worrry about half a dozen eggs I sold at my honesty box on my allotment. Everything was and is frozen but someone still bought the eggs! No complaints as yet!

You can freeze eggs so it should be fine. You might be better scrambling or omeletting them.
