Damn, sorry for a downward but Ive lost three in a week.
One little banty hen, just started laying, no idea why.
And one rhodie and one leghorn youngsters, both of these two were bottom of the pecking order and despite extra food and treats etc on the quiet came down with colds after the last wet spell and gave up.

1742 plus a light sussex chick - only one to hatch out of batch of 6 so 1743! He isn't alone, I put him in with the slightly bigger chicks(risky..) and they have accepted him.He is very feisty and loud- daughter has named him toffee. How do kids remeber all their names?

Back down to 1742 I'm afraid
Lost Nelly no-knickers, one of my Amber Links this weekend, she was looking a little peaky for a couple of days, as they do from time to time, but was still eating and drinking and squabbling with the newbies. Yesterday I found her laying on her side and unable to stand. She weighed less than a packet of crisps! My Husband very kindly put her out of her misery.
She had no tail or bum feathers when she came, and had recently moulted for the first time, actually growing a spindly little tail and some pants, at last. On the bright side; she had had over thirteen months of freedom.
That takes me down to 41 - but the Cockerel's coming next weekend! All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment
