Anyway, not being that good at identification of breeds, I think there's 1 Cuckoo Marans (Vera), 1 Araucana (Edna) who laid a lovely blue egg for me, and 1 Rhode Island Red (Muriel)
They're all in quarantine at the moment and Jerry's not happy that he can't say hello to them I'll get pictures on here as soon as I can get a minute!
I also have another couple of chicks that I (foolishly perhaps) helped hatch on Day 26, but they're not that strong and I don't know whether they'll make it or not, so I'm not adding them yet

Yes, Day 26 AND they're doing really well! There were big problems to start with, hand feeding them with egg yolk and water till they were strong enough to do it themselves. Now they're charging around with another 4 chicks, jumping off boxes, and generally being lovely little thingsMy girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

2099 - 1 = 2098
Very very sad to have to report the loss of my favourite Battie, from my first ever lot back in November 2008. She was fine yesterday, but went to bed earlier than the rest, and this morning she was stiff as a board.
'Nosey Rosie' was the first out of the box when I brought them home, first to go and have a nose around in the coop, the first to hop up for a cuddle on my Lap - in fact, first at everything, that's how she got her name. She was the loveliest, friendliest little brown Chook, and will be much missed. All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

Joins G4 in misery, sad to say our last remaining ex-batt from the first batch passed away today She survived battery farming and recovered from a nasty fox attack which left her unable to walk for 3 days and still took weeks before she was walking without falling over. Go well love.

Aaawww, big hugs Jane and Steve, so sad . We are really lucky with our first batch (Nov 08) still have at least half of them left and Alice is still boss of the flock.Hayley B
