2365 Lost poor Buffy overnight - we thought we would. She was one of my original four girls, and the first hen we've ever lost (touch wood) Quite a character and she'll be missed sorely. Looking forward to our hatches now we've a vacancy.

I can now post this as I am pretty sure I can say + 4!! was nearly 3 for a while, was touch and go on the little 'help out'. But it seems to be a fighter and is whizzing around and CHIRPING for England with the rest of them!

Oh and instead of the two young Silkies I was looking for I came home last night with 1 silkie hen who is a bag of bones and her 2 six week old chicks who are, apparently sexed as pullets by an expert. I feel a total idiot as they are probably cockerels and she will probably fall off her perch after eating me out of house and home but they are here now. Dunno what came over me. I totally disregarded all my intentions of visit twice, once to look (without kids) and once to collect after talking it over and thinking it through before phoning to reserve. I went, I saw, I liked that she was OK with kids handling her. I couldnt bear to leave her chicks even though their aunts squabble over them coz I thought she might be upset, so instead of two hens, a black and a white or two whites I have a black hen with a bit of cuckoo speckling, a black chick and an admittedly beautiful chick with a mix of black, white and cuckoo. Oh and they all have horrible feet with too many toes and eyes like a person...oh and the chicks are wild. Thats 2391 +3=2394 and a red faced me..............
