Must admit I do eat chicken, but not my own! I did toy with the idea of keeping some table birds, but then I saw a truck of piggies on their way to the abbattoir and somehow it seemed all wrong, and I knew I'd never be able to see them as dinner and not as part of the family. Is that very hypocritical? I'm not sure...
I love veggie food VVG - was veggie myself for many years, but I kind of slid back to eating white meat eventually, and now I live in France it'd be really hard to be a strict veggie because they don't seem to know what one is... I mostly cook veggie during the week though, and have lots of fun winding up my french neighbours with the threat of a veggie meal next time they come to dinner . I did make veggie lasagne for a group of english / french meat eaters last year, including some kids, and they all enjoyed it despite their cynicism - the kids even asked what sort of meat I'd used! (quorn mince - I can't find it over here so it's probably the first time they'd come across it). But yes, I do eat chicken at weekends sometimes, and I do eat it if I go out for a meal and it's what happens to be given. But I now buy free-range chicken rather than the cheapest ones, so at least I know they've had a better life (in theory anyway).
