Oh shock Aunty Mo, I hadn't read this thread for a little while, beautiful Basil = lunch
Anyway I'm 1 down, Stripey - an Amber Link from last Decembers Ex Batts - croaked overnight, poor little laydee at least she enjoyed her year of freedom.

And Petal's overrun now minus my two male rescue ducks Donald and Daffy (who were not counted in anyway 'cause ducks aren't allowed) but they are still on the vine just happily living at Petal's house as of last night - confusing her hens instead

1406 plus hatched today - buff orpington, light sussex, brown leghorn, cream crested legbar, 2 pekins = 1412! Donald and Daffy don't count, being the wrong species, they are very upset about this.
Now 1434 I had the last lot of Basil's gangs eggs incubating and now have another 10 chicks of various colours 3 hatched on Tuesday (1 day early) and 7 yesterday. There might be more, but we'll wait and see. I'm very happy with what I've got though - either more laying hens in the Spring, or yummy Easter dinners
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
