Had lots of them, mainly from Black Stars and Bluebelles especially in the first 6 months of laying.

My black Rock often does one. Mind you she has been known to produce a few 110gram egg! Ouch. She is about a year old and is quite a big bird.

Had a couple off the white star too she is a bit smaller and only managed one 100 gram plus egg so far. None so far we don't think, off the brown one.

This often happens in pullets, first they lay tiny eggs, then "pullet" sized, then, God help them, huge double yolkers!( It makes me cross my legs to think of it!!)

At least 1 of my ex-batts has been laying double-yolkers over the past month or so since they moulted and they must be at least 2 years old now. The eggs from the Black Stars and the Bluebelles are still on the small side but getting bigger
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

Apparently you can't breed a chook to only lay double yolkers as they usuaully all do at some time but none do all the time!

I look on them as a bonus, I can't sell em but they make wonderful egg sarnies!

Our village shop sells massive free range eggs from a local lady, delicious. Double Yolkers are becoming the norm, we've been amazed to have some Triple Yolkers - yum yum! Not sure what kind of hens they come from.

I assume that, like laydeez, hens are born (well, hatched) with their life-time supply of eggs inside ready to shed and be laid. Therefore I wonder if having a hen that lays double yolkers regularly means she will lay fewer actual eggs in her life-time as she'll have used up her supply - if you get me drift?

There is a technical reason why you can't breed a hen to lay only double yolkers............but it escapes me, like a lot of things, for the present!

Double-yolked eggs tend not to hatch.....

One of my white stars lays doubles, for a about a month in the summer, every other day i would be greeted by a huge egg, and the best bit, was when we had them boiled for breakfast, was managing to cut the top of the egg, and having a yolk in the top and the bottom, the kids were really amazed, and it kept them quiet for a while as well !!
