    message to nervous chicken owner

    hi,

you sound just like i was when i got my girls 3 months ago!! don't worry you will be fine and soon enjoying them, i have a run, and some fenced off area, and i also let them free range in my garden when i can which is nearly every day. dog bowls sound fine although my sister uses them and they do get knocked over easily. i use the proper chicken feeder (dome shaped) simply because they dont knock it over. they are a joy, honestly and just need protection from predators, food, water and lots of tlc and they will reward you with their antics and will become really tame. i found the more time i spent with them in the early days and then building their confidence up to handle them really helped. they now come into my kitchen looking for food. everytime the kitchen door handle goes they bomb down the garden and sit on the step!! you will have fun and whenever you are worried just come on the site, there are so many people to help you. hope that helps. enjoy!!

Don't worry you'll be fine, I agree with the metal dog bowls though as they will flip them when jumping on the edge, my evening chook treat pans get flipped regularly.

As for addiction I originally wanted just three or four the was talked into getting a dozen by Aunty Maureen and now I have 24
