well here they are, the grey one is a blue belle called Sage and the brown a calder ranger called Onion, they both seem to be settling OK although Sage is definately in charge.....they took themselves to bed about 4.30 so they are all locked up for the night, think i might have a sleepless night though. They've eaten & drunk well so hopefyully they will sleep ok. and ive done nothing all afternoon but stand and watch them either in the garden (feet are freezin)or stood at the kitchen window i can see its gonna be addictive this chicken keepin

Gorgeous!! Pretty soon, 2 won't be enough. I have 15 and still think about adding to my feathery family.

Beautiful hens, Hansmum, but do think about more already... if one goes (and it does happen out of the blue) then you are left with just one and they are not solitary creatures. Perhaps get one more asap? I lost my beautiful Dorothy just like that at 20 months was left with two, got an ex-bat thrust on me and poor Betty suffered for several months till she was integrated. But have just got three more POL and they've fitted in much better, still a bit of argy-bargy but safety in numbers and Maude, my new Bluebell has just laid me an exquisite tiny egg, the first of the three - a Monica, a Maran and a Suffolk blacktail called Ruby still to lay, she's really early, 23 weeks but it was still a lovely surprise to find it.
Enjoy your hens, they are really addictive....
                            best wishes

                              I WANT A GREY ONE

They are lovely but why sage and onion, surely not for edible reasons
