Sorry to hear about your chook Snadger. Even knowing they are old and knowing you've done your best for them, it's still hard to lose them. I can see why you are heartened by your young'un starting to lay. It's sort of the cycle of life, isn't it?

sorry about your hen snadger . It does sound like she would have died happy and comfortable.
I would have been chuffed about the newbie laying an egg as well, doesn't make it better but it kindof makes sense
