  • Chook Caused Injuries

Never realised chickens were so dangerous

Walk into yard with chook pans for evening feed, 24 chooks around wellies, find a gap, go for it, foot contact with chicken poo, flat on bum.

One badly grazed knee, badly bruised elbow and a knock on head, wine aided recovery.

Today, DD's finger mistaken for food, peck, blood.........

No, dandy today but my knee is very very sore, piece of skin missing size of a 50p, got it plastered to stop trousers rubbing

Mind you I nearly came a cropper again this evening, chook poo seems to have gotten very slippery for some reason

The lot of them should have ASBOs if you ask me. Me and hubby are dreadfully hen-pecked

I used to have a red scar half way up my calf. Every morning when I let them out whilst wearing a dressing gown, it gets pecked..... Now I have a very red scar

Snadge you are soooooo cruel, I remember your headbangers with the corn as well.

Actually I threw my lot and old marrow that had gone a bit soft on me the other day, after I cut it in half cause they ignored it they realised how good it was and worked their way down the centre. Seeing a chook with its head missing inside a marrow is very funny

Too funny, not only the image of you on ya bum in chicken poo (sorry) but snadgers yoghurt pot chooks too.

Mine don't do anything funny, just follow me with their beady little eyes and beaks... one did peck OH on the bum once, they were attrcted to the zip on his pockets, he yelped in pain and had a little mark on it hahahaha. That was quite funny. My trousers don't have zips on the bum... but one did get my little finger once... OUCH, hurt for ages.

I've been backwards and forwards in and out of the run today carrying small pots of screws (was attaching another external nest box to the coop) and had chickens jumping all over me trying to see what was in the pot! They really did give me a disgusted look when I showed them it was screws and not corn
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

I have been on my bum twice in the chicken run. Bearing in mind I have a resemblance to Dawn French (but older and not so pretty) I sat there for some time one morning unable to get up but knowing I had to eventually. A little chicken poo makes a heck of a mess to your pyjamas. Lots of frost followed by lots of rain doesn't help. I've put loads of hemcore down now to soak up the wet.

I sat with my girls for a chat (I have a stool in the run for that purpose) for a while yesterday and they took great delight picking the mud off my wellies and waterproof trousers - great fun, kept them entertained for ages while the usual two had a cuddle.

This morning I sat on the stool and got attacked - no waterproof trousers for protection spiteful b*ggers.

Note to self - wear armour!

Two days ago while cleaning one of the hen houses out, I stuck my head in the door, not knowing that there was a hen in, until it pecked me in the eye. Stop laughing. I now have to wear a patch and put eye drops in every three hours. I thought the doctor was going to fall off his chair.
