  • Hopefully getting more girls at the weekend!

La, la, la! We might be getting 3 Welsummer girls at the weekend!

One of the blokes Mr OWG works with (the guy that bought him the ducks for his birthday ) has some Welsummer pullets he wishes to offload... he hatched some eggs, and got a 100% hatching rate, and they were all girls (he wanted some boys), so he is now overrun with chickens!!

Hehehe... so Mr OWG offered to take some off his hands! I am rather excited, as apparantly they lay dark, chocolate brown eggs

If only they were actual chocolate eggs!!

We'll have 7 chooks and 6 ducks altogether; brining the grand total of animals up to 18

I know... we've not moved into any proper livestock yet (pigs, sheep etc) and TBH, as much as I would like a pig, I do have a) a full time job, b) not really enough land for one, and c) not enough hours in the day!!

Several people have suggested we open a petting zoo - rabbits, chickens, ducks and dogs make quite a nice combination. Mr OWG can hook a trailer up to the ride on mower and take kiddies for rides, and I shall serve home made biscuits and cups of tea from the garage.....

OWG- is it you who had the problems with the neighbours and riding arena??

WELL....if it was......A lot of horses can't stand the smell of pigs!!!!
