Ok...so the youngest chick is really dead this time

Only left it for an hour too. Clearly had no survival instinct to go back under mum's wing when it got cold.

Oh well- 3 left and either 4 or 5 eggs to maybe hatch.
'Midwife' is nipping over tomorrow so we'll see.

Wonder what colour it will be?? The mum is either pheasant ( who is that colour) or Alice- (who is cream beige)

got visitors for 'afternoon tea and English biscuits' in a few mins- otherwise I'd pull up a chair!

Nice to have visitors though isn't it???

Well- I showed the children- aged 3-8 ( 4 of them) the chooks and they were fascinated !
They even stroked the cockerel and when he was put down he crowed for them!! Bless

I had a quick look a few minutes ago and the little beak is waving around behind the hole- but it's clearly had a 2 hr rest.
I'll check before going to bed!

(have to say the kids were brill with all of the chooks- and when they had a drink, sat quietly and then had a clementine before any of the biccies!! I was most impressed by their behaviour!)

...just went to let the chooks out and take a photo of the latest (having seen a tiny yellow chick under Alice last night)
...and it's dead..clearly been squashed

Oh boy....looks like it's 'spot the dead chick' at the moment
