Well-I messed about with her before- and as she's only young I thought I'd just leave her to it. I had hoped she would have laid a couple more- but still- it's the first of a few (I hope!)

Do you know when they start laying again once the chicks have hatched????

Might you get a wooden chick from it? Nice on the mantlepiece!

                            Update....

When OH went to check on Bertha at our bedtime one of her eggs was not fully tucked away under her feathers- so he gently pocked it into place . ( hope it wasn't too chilled)

Went in this morning and she's moved the nest a little - looks like some of the other birds had nipped in to see her ( droppings), and the cardboard box next to her had been moved- looks like she may have chased off one of the cockerels.

Otherwise Bertha looks as contented as ever.

                              Hmmm...

Just put the others to bed- and the wooden egg and one of the others were not under her
So- I've removed the wooden one- and pushed the luke-warm one back underneath.
Do you reckon that one may not be viable now( after Lynda's problem of too cool?)

Sort of have a feeling that I'm not going to have chicks now

Should I pop a couple of todays eggs under her- but mark them first????- or just leave it be?
(Other 2 eggs were laid Sun and Mon)
