It is a little sweetie- runs and clambers around chirping , eats a bit , stands still and dozes off!
Mum had nipped out for a poo break at that point- and when she returned babes climbed onto her back and then tobogganed off!
Eventually it pushed itself onto Bertha's foot and she lifted her wing and it climbed up underneath to her 'armpit'...or should I call that her wingpit????
The box is fairly small- I thought it would keep them warmer- but to be honest I think I'll take it out and leave the outer box.
( I'll leave the other one on the floor so if the do get out again they'll have somewhere to sleep )"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Cute isn't in it - what a little sweetie. I can't decide whether to show these pics to the children or not - they are already very keen on the chick idea, and this might send them into overdrive!
You're doing a great job there Grandma, keep posting those pictures!Life is brief and very fragile, do that which makes you happy.

Nicos, your hens are gorgeous and that chick well.............
Fingers x'd for the others. Although I'm a dedicated ex-batt lover I sure would like something a bit different, is it Legbar that produces blue eggs? I might have to consider getting a fewHayley B

Well- let them out later this am after hearing the foxes last night.
Bertha was beside herself when I walked in..clucking and dashing in and out of the box.
My heart sank.
Suddenly I saw the little one chirping around like crazy!
Upon closer inspection I noticed the little ramekins and water had got hidden under the extra straw we'd put in- and they hadn't seen where they'd got to! So I uncovered them and the chick jumped straight in and started munching!!!
Poor Bertha eventually calmed down- but now I feel bad about not opening them up until 1/2 hr ago
4th hen ( Alice ) still wanting to nest- but she's our only source of eggs for now!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
