I'm not getting quite as many this week, but still 7 or 8 most days. Had a few 10s last week.

I was going to put an honesty box out, and a sign at the end of the lane, but so far any excess have been taken to work by OH. He even returns with cash!

That's the next bag of feed paid for already!

I have to say I'm surprised my gals have done 4/4 a couple of times- and we got 3 yesterday( as Bertha is sitting she's obviously not contributing!).
- and I thought they rested over winter..they just seem to take the odd day off once a week or so!

What a total - really BIG omlettes any one?

How much do you sell them for? (I know I've seen prices before on the 'Vine but I've just sold my very first 1/2 dozen this morning and want to benchmark on current prices!)

I don't know how much everyone else charges, but a chap near us used to charge 60p for half a dozen, but has recently increased it to 75p due to massive rises in feed costs (these are not organically fed which I would imagine would cost more).
A little off topic, but as someone who is about to start their own flock, I read somewhere, but can't recall where, that it's illegal to sell fertilized eggs. Is this true? I have at least one American chicken-keeping book, so it's possible I read it in that and it doesn't apply here, but I can't find the reference anywhere now.

People sell fertilised eggs on ebay for others to incubate, so I don't think it can be true. Although I think it's illegal to import fertilised eggs if you don't have the proper liscences.

Chicken-keepers in our village tend to ask £1 for six. Compared to supermarket prices that's a bargain!

I'm asking £1 for 6, which is the going rate around here, and I was paying that eight years ago!

Free range eggs in the local supermarkets are at least £1.50 for 6, and at least I can guarantee mine do actually spend their days eating grass, and the eggs are less than a week old!

I haven't had any complaints yet, just empty boxes asking to be re-filled

Mine go for £1 for 6 too, and people are more than happy to pay that. Any cheaper and people put them in the same category as barn eggs (which is only 1 step up from battery!)

i havent any to sell yet, but people at work are constantly asking when they can buy some, i'm thinking £1 for 6 which considering Mr T is selling free range 6 for £1.36 and organic for £1.82 for 6 seems a bargain, any money will go in the jar for feed

I sell mine for 80p a half dozen.

I would love to keep my chooks fully free range but I haven't got the room.

They are in a good sized outdoor run though with a covered in portion and a chook house with roosts and nest boxes.

I suppose they could be classed as 'range' but not free range!

We get £1 for 6 and I can't supply enough, we have some eastern European lads that will buy every last box at least 3 times a week. We have a sign out that calls them Happy Hens they are free range in the yard all day but you cannot sell as organic unless you have organic certification. Ours are not organic anyway as I don't think A&P pellets are - not sure would have to check the bag - but at £5.95 a bag I am not gonna change
