  • Gone to Chooky heaven

We're all feeling sad at Chez SueChooks this morning as one of my ex-batts has just died. We've had them almost a year and I hoped she would make it so she'd have had as long out of the cage as in it. Symbolic and sentimental I know but they're so grateful and deserving, who can help it? We still have 8 of the original 12 so hoping they continue their winning ways for a long time yet.

So sorry to hear the sad news. Was this the one you were worried about a couple of weeks ago? I'm sure after nearly a year of wonderful freedom she had forgotten her time in a cage.

Yes Frias she was the same one. I'm pretty sure it was kidney failure as she was drinking a massive amount of water. I actually had a vet appointment this morning with her but she died just before we were due to leave home. She'd been at home for a few days in "ITU", being cossetted so she went peacefully without being pecked at by the others.

Sorry to hear about your little friend. At least you gave her the kind of life that she could only ever have dreamed of before.

Drink alcohol (to forget) and drink alcohol (to celebrate her life)

Sorry to hear that Suechooks. They have such hard lives before they are liberated it's a wonder so many live for so long afterwards. And of course, too many don't get a chance. Well done for giving it to her.
