Hi Bephlam, how big is your run? Only asking cos I notice you have a 'normal' looking garden outside it so I assume they stay in there most of the time? Our garden has been trashed but I'm not sure if the run is big enough for them to stay in all the time. It looks beautiful by the way!!

Hi Sarflo,

My run is 11ft x 6 ft....and it's no where near full to capacity yet. It could hold many more chooks, but I'm not planning on putting any more than 6/7 in it. My girls free range almost daily - they make a mess, but I don't feel the trash it. Perhaps it's their breed - they're not very 'scratchy'....

The run is definitely big enough for them to be in all the time, but I like to have them roaming free as and when I can!

May be a different story in the Spring when the garden is blooming!

My garden has been thoroughly trashed. Bought some pansy plants for the pots at the front but left them on the patio at the back by mistake. They lasted all of 3 minutes and are obviously very tasty. I have no grass left anywhere. Anyone want to buy a lawn mower? There are times when I wish I had never let the girls out of the run. On the other hand I get lots of pleasure watching them.

I check every day, but nope...still nothing. The nights are getting lighter...the morning are lighter...their run is lovely...their food is right...I've even put a big green bush in with them in case she would rather lay in that!! What else can I do??

I sooooo want an egg!!
