D'you know what? I'm almost getting scared to click on any threads on the 'Vine at the moment for fear I'm going to come across some pointless bickering or downright rudeness. Terrier, and Hilary, please can you agree to disagree, and do or don't have salt when you please, or start another thread...

As for the hens, which was what was originally asked about, they don't sweat so shouldn't need a lot of salt. As someone else said, perhaps a quick rinse for anything you've cooked in salt.

Sorry. I sometimes get carried away when talking about bits of information I am sure about. I did suggest "if you don't want salt don't use it", and as it happens, I don't use a LOT of salt, but I would hate to omit it completely, not least because I like Marmite........
I doubt chickens NEED salt, and obviously it would be sensible to avoid giving too much, but one can overdo the caution!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Marmite is supposed to be good for chickens isn't it? Several websites I've been on advises giving it for poorly chooks.

Yes, lots of recommendations for Marmite when a chook's a bit off-colour
