  • Henby General

Had our first inmate in ICU, Henby General (the hay barn )

After being encouraged to drink by virtually ramming a bowl of water spiked with boost down her throat, no-name brownie produced a membrane coated egg last night and - after a fine breakfast of mash and limestone powder - looked better this morning.

On checking at her lunchtime somehow she had checked herself out of Henby (probably through the cat flap after jumping the haybales) and was scrabbling amongst the others for their lunchtime mixed corn

Glad the patient is OK. I did try to seperate one of mine once when she was off colour but it seemed to stress her more. I think they know that they might get bullied by the others on return. One of mine laid a soft egg this week in the garden. I was watching her because I could see she wasn't right and kept straining. As soon as it landed the others leapt on it and ate it, before I could get anywhere near to remove it. She ate a bit herself then trotted off as right as rain. First time one of them have laid a softie for ages and first time they have laid outside since I got them last May. (Well that I know about but I do spend a lot of time watching them especially now with all the worry about foxes)

I was really worried about this one as she was not eating or drinking and was just sleeping all the time and on top of that was getting bullied out of the way by the others. She settled into Henby quite quickly but I did worry it was something a bit more serious and thought she may go the same way as Hoppy.
