  • Meet the girls....

    Morning all.

I'm sad or addicted not sure which yet....lol popping out every 10 mins to check on them! Then stand in the rain for about 5 mins just watching them....(must remember to put a brolley by the door!)

Taken a 4 tier green house cover and put it over the run so the girls can still get the light but not rain.

So far Noodle, is happiest outside and drinking and eating loads, which is good 'cause she's got the least feathers...

Nugget is causing me the most worries as she's barely pecked at any food and not seen her drink anything yet...

Lizzie (The one with the most feathers seems content but prefers to stay inside the with nugget. Nando keeps popping in and out.

I have kicked Nugget out and closed the door for 10 mins in the hope of gettting her to eat and drink (this worked as she has started to peck.)

They sound like they're doing ok really How long since they were liberated? I expect they're still a bit bemused

I'm a bit envious, still haven't worked out how/where I can keep a few girls...

Well done! You won't recognise them soon - new growth of feathers, red combs - they'll be gorgeous (not that they aren't now!)
You think you're sad? This morning - Sunday lie-in - I was up looking out of the window at 7.30, then 7.45. At 8.00 I yelped with delight - "What are you looking at?" asked Himself. "I'm checking that the pop-hole opener's working!"

No chooks, no run but I'm checking on pop-hole opener! Deeply sad!

i would pop some food inside the house if possible, and she'll come out when she's ready, it must be a bit overwhelming for them, in a week or so, you'll probably find it's like they've been ther forever ..... i'm dreading mine going outside, sitting in the cold for hours on end and not having pingu sat on top of the monitor will be very strange

She's perked up as the day has progressed... I also think that 1 of the eggs was nuggets although I cannot be certain. We'll keep an eye on her and if needs, I eill try your idea.... Thanks

They look lovely! It reminds me of when I got mine. Don't worry about the lack of feathers, mine looked like that in November, but now they've all got frilly bloomers, and all their neck feathers. I still have two with hardly any wing feathers, so they look a little scruffy.

It won't take very long before they see you as the provider of food, and watch your every movement. You won't be able to go near the door or window without them running up to the nearest point in anticipation.

I'll have a bet with you - you'll have more than four by Easter lol !

It's early days. Once you start selling surplus eggs, which pays for the feed, it doesn't seem so daft having them!

                          The bet still stands lol!
