  • Choc Chip

One of the whities with brown dots on her back - Choc Chip - was taken into Henby General last night. She's gone downhill very quickly. Unfortunately she had died by morning. DD doesn't know yet. I think it may be organ failure as her comb went blueish the same as Hoppy according to DD last night so I wasn't overly optimistic that she was the same as the last inmate - no-name.

At least she had a happy 5/6 weeks out of hell

What a pity. As you say, at least they got to see the sky.

Chooks just go downhill so darned fast.

    Hugs to you and yours.
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

So sorry about Choc Chip. Know how you feel as I lost of of mine this week. Lets hope all the others stay well enough to enjoy their freedom. We really have no idea of what they go though before they are liberated do we? We can only imagine.

Sorry to hear that. Their previous lives are so stressful aren't they?

So sad for you Hayley. As everyone has already said they do go down so fast. I have tried antibiotics on a couple of mine with 50/50 success. Like you I do try to bring them into ITU if they look seedy so at least they have some peace. She's had a proper chickeny time with you anyway.

                Sorry to hear that, Hayley

I lost two non-batts within the first month of having them - the stress of a change of surroundings can be too much even for hens that haven't suffered previously, so don't feel too bad about it. Once the others have settled in fully, I'm sure they'll be fine!

so sorry to hear about your chook Hayley. They really do go down very fast don't they. I suppose it's something to do with hiding any symptoms till it's too late so the others don't pick on the poorly one

Oh, really sorry to hear that Hayley . Like the others have said, at least her last few weeks were happy ones, and went some way to make up for her earlier life.
